Documents we apostille most often for Spain

- Powers of attorney (poder notarial) for procedures, NIE/DNI matters, and property in Spain
- Diplomas and school records for the homologación of degrees

Questions about the apostille for Spain
Can I do everything from Spain, without traveling?+
Yes. The notarization is by video call and I handle the apostille in Tallahassee. You send the document and receive it back with tracked shipping.
Is the sworn translation really mandatory in Spain?+
For most official procedures, yes. Spanish offices usually require both the apostille and a traducción jurada. The translator must be appointed by Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs; a regular certified translation is not enough.
How long does the apostille for Spain take?+
About 6 business days standard ($199), 4 priority ($249), or 3 express with online notarization ($299), plus courier time to your address.
Does Spain accept a Florida remote online notarization for a power of attorney?+
Yes. Florida authorizes remote online notarization under Chapter 117 of the Florida Statutes, and Spain accepts the document once it carries the Florida Department of State apostille. Both countries are parties to the 1961 Hague Convention, so no consular legalization is needed. Some Spanish registries will also ask for a traducción jurada, which is arranged separately in Spain.
