If you are in Fort Lauderdale or Miami, I can also notarize in person.

Documents we apostille most often for Mexico

  • Powers of attorney (carta poder, poder notarial) for procedures before the SRE, property sales, and family matters in Mexico
  • Florida birth and marriage certificates (certified copy first)
  • School records and university diplomas notarized in Florida
  • Corporate documents and powers of attorney for companies
  • Sworn statements and affidavits

The apostille is a certificate issued by the Florida Department of State in Tallahassee. Mexico accepts it directly because both countries are parties to the Hague Convention. No additional step at a Mexican consulate or foreign ministry.

Questions about the apostille for Mexico

Can I do everything from Mexico, without traveling?+

Yes. The notarization happens by video call and I handle the apostille in Tallahassee. You only send the document and receive it back with tracked shipping.

How long does the apostille for Mexico take?+

About 6 business days standard ($199), 4 priority ($249), or 3 express with online notarization ($299), plus courier time to your address.

My background check is from the FBI, not Florida. Does that work?+

No. Federal documents such as an FBI background check are apostilled by the US Department of State in Washington, not by Florida. Message me and I will point you to the right path.

Do I need to translate my document into Spanish before notarizing it in Florida?+

No. Florida notaries work with the document as presented under Chapter 117 of the Florida Statutes, and the apostille is issued on the document as filed. If the receiving office in Mexico asks for Spanish, a certified translation can be done in Mexico after the apostille; it does not need to be part of the notarization.
