Documents we apostille most often for Italy

  • Florida birth and marriage certificates for citizenship and residency files before the comune (certified copy first)
  • Powers of attorney (procura speciale, procura generale) for property, vehicles, and legal matters in Italy
  • Diplomas and school records for university admission and codice fiscale applications
  • Corporate documents and powers of attorney for companies
  • Sworn statements and affidavits

The apostille is a certificate issued by the Florida Department of State in Tallahassee. Italy accepts it directly because both countries are parties to the Hague Convention. No additional step at an Italian embassy or consulate.

Questions about the apostille for Italy

Can I do everything from Italy, without traveling?+

Yes. The notarization happens by video call and I handle the apostille in Tallahassee. You only send the document and receive it back with tracked shipping.

Does this work for an Italian citizenship application?+

Yes. Apostilled US civil documents are a standard part of citizenship and residency files for Italy. I will guide you on the certified copy requirement before you book, so the consulate or comune accepts the document without objections.

My background check is from the FBI, not Florida. Does that work?+

No. Federal documents such as an FBI background check are apostilled by the US Department of State in Washington, not by Florida. Message me and I will point you to the right path.

Is a Florida apostille enough for Italian comuni and consulates?+

Yes. Italy and the United States are both parties to the 1961 Hague Convention, so the Florida Department of State apostille is accepted directly, with no consular legalization. For citizenship files (jure sanguinis) the apostilled document usually also needs a sworn translation into Italian by a traduttore giurato, which is a separate step.
